The Industrial Commission, Oil and Gas Division began regulating geophysical
exploration in North Dakota on July 1, 1997. A summary of the seismic programs
since that time is available via the Seismic Programs link to the left.
This summary includes the state permit number, program name, bonded
geophysical contractor, client company (if known), location (township and
range), county, date permitted, commenced and completed, number of source
points, aerial or linear extent of the program (2 or 3 dimensional), and the
acquisition method (shot-hole or vibroseis). There are also links to the permit files.
Seismic location and post-plot maps displaying the source and receiver
layouts will be available electronically through our GIS map server link.
