Incident Reported in McKenzie County
BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division was notified of a brine and oil release occurring Wednesday, January 24 at the MOBERG FEDERAL 149-95-29-32-11H well location, about 25 miles east from Watford City, McKenzie County, North Dakota.
Goodnight Midstream reported Wednesday, January 24 that 250 barrels of brine and 50 barrels of oil were released due to equipment failure. Product was contained on-site and cleanup is underway. At the time of reporting 200 barrels of brine and 50 barrels of oil had been recovered.
A state inspector has been to the location and will monitor any additional cleanup required.
Federal and state laws require federal and/or state agencies be notified in the event of accidental spillage of any materials that may pollute water, air or soil.
