MEDIA ADVISORY | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Tuesday, March 7, 2023 Spill Reported in Mountrail County BISMARCK, N.D. – The ND Department of Mineral Resources was notified of a produced water spill by Continental Resources in Mountrail County. On March 6, 2023, a Brangus CTB – frac tank butterfly valve released 380 barrels of produced water. The spill was contained to the location, and all visibly contaminated material will be remediated. The cause of the leak was due to human error. The Department of Mineral Resources’ mission is to encourage and promote the development, production, and utilization of oil and gas in North Dakota in such a manner that will prevent waste and maximize economic recovery to realize the greatest possible good from our vital natural resources. -###-
